Gabapentin CAS 60142-96-3 | High-Purity Pharmaceutical API

Product Name: Gabapentin; other names include 1-(aminomethyl)cyclohexaneacetic acid, Neurontin

CAS Number: 60142-96-3

Molecular Formula: C₉H₁₇NO₂

Molecular Weight: 171.24

Purity: Common specifications include >98.0% or ≥99%;

Appearance: White to off-white crystalline powder

Grade: Pharmaceutical grade or research grade. It is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analog used as an anticonvulsant and analgesic.

    The specific mechanism of action of gabapentin is rather unique. Although it is structurally similar to the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, it does not exert its effects through GABA receptors. It is currently believed that its primary target is the α2δ subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channels in the central nervous system. By binding to this subunit, gabapentin reduces the influx of calcium ions, thereby regulating the release of various neurotransmitters and ultimately producing anticonvulsant, analgesic, and anxiolytic effects.

    Epilepsy: Adjunctive Therapy for Partial Seizures

    Gabapentin is approved for the adjunctive treatment of partial seizures (with or without secondary generalized seizures) in adults and children aged 3 years and older. This means it is typically used in combination with other antiepileptic drugs to better control seizures.
